Spirits of the Forest: Deer
Spirit: soul, vital force, life force. I painted this series to honor the animals—and trees, plants, rocks, water—that are the life force and soul of the Northwoods where I live. The animals blend in with the environment; everything is colorful and full of movement and hope. But there’s a ghostly undertone: we must cherish, protect, and preserve them to keep them from becoming only memories of what was.
