Spirits of the Wild: Bats
Some cultures consider bats a symbol of good luck. I do: they eat tons of mosquitoes and are so graceful and quiet when they fly. I like watching them swoop and catch insects, and it pleases me to imagine all the insects that won’t bite me. I wanted the bats to blend in subtly to suggest their silent, nocturnal movement—to convey a sense of joy at their presence rather than the Halloween menace.
